FMMF – Fashion Meets Music Festival

download (3)Now that summer is fully upon us, a music lover’s mind turns to the thought of festivals.  And whether you are looking for the Americana experience of a Merlefest or the alternative/new rock experience of a Vans Warped Tour.  This summer offers something new for music lovers in Ohio.  A rare opportunity to merge several compelling interests in music.  For three nights in August — the 29th through 31st to be precise — the short north of Columbus will be turned into a music and fashion hybrid experience.  As you have heard Mrs. Dr. J and I talk about this on the radio program, we are excited to see such an eclectic mix of bands and musicians come to Columbus to play for this festival.

images (2)In the upcoming weeks we will be discussing the line up — which is great for those of us who like independent music!

This particular event will also incorporate urban camping and an extensive marketplace and expo space!

So, tune into Your Tuesday Afternoon Alternative for the next several weeks to learn more about the unique culture and music event that is coming to our fine state in a few months!

Your pal, Dr. J

It is a Two for Tuesday on Your Tuesday Afternoon Alternative

Toast-and-JamThis week we continue the smash that is “toast and jams” by playing songs that go together like… well, you get the idea, right? Things that go together make for more fun for all of us. Music is no exception. So, listen for the songs that we pair together for some reason. We also have some CDs to give away this week from Go Robot, Go!

We have so much new music that we cannot play everything and that is just a damn shame. So you will want to listen to this one. And in case you cannot remember… set the timer for tomorrow from 3-6pm on wudr.udayton.eduiPhone Pictures 06-23-2014 570

If you live in Dayton you can try the 99.5 and 98.1fm frequencies of ‘music in all directions.’ And for the tech-minded among us, you can also use the new UD Mobile app and listen to us that way too!  But however you can… join us for a great show of independent music!

This week we announce the YTAA Book Read winner, talk about the new ‘I Saved Latin’ compilation of indie artists covering music that has been in Wes Anderson films, and play tons of new music. We have even been known to play some really cool local music too. Could happen. Bets are on even money… ah, who are we kidding? Of course we are going to play some terrific local music too!
