This past week we had such fine guests as The Professors visited the YTAA Studios! They have a show on June 23rd at The Yellow Cab Tavern with The Zygotes and Cherry Lee and the Hot Rod Hounds! We played music from their most recent CD, ‘Will Not Lie Down’, talked about Dayton Music and their approach to recording the perfect garage guitar tone! Such fun guests – as you can see here! A Voice of Your Own on YTAA Today!
Today from 3-6pm at YTAA we are joined in the studio from the fine lads in A Voice of Your Own who will talk about their latest record, “Vines on the Lines” and upcoming shows in our local area, and how to get just the right feeling on a song. The music that AVOYO make is reminiscent of 90’s alternative music in the best possible sense!
A Voice Of Your Own blends traditional pop song structures, and low fi indie influences with a hands-on DIY approach that connects and pays homage to their musical influences while sounding fresh and contemporary. AVOYO draws from a variety of different skilled artists and musicians such as Tom Petty, The Cars, Beck, and The White Stripes which is some pretty damn fine company! AVOYO started as a solo project formed by producer, guitarist, and song writer James Crabtree. As a solo project, AVOYO had previously independently released two full length albums. Today the band has evolved into a full dynamic group.
A Voice of Your Own have a new record “Vines On The Lines” that has been available since February. The band currently consists of James Crabtree (guitar/vocals), Johnny McConnell (bass), Levi Short (guitar/vocals) Tylur Kahnle (guitar) and Matt Mihalus (drums). We welcome them to the YTAA studio this week!

7th Annual Indie Holiday Show!
This week we celebrate the holidays in full indie music style. We will be playing new, classic, and cover holiday songs on the show. Another year has come and gone. Can anyone believe that this is our seventh holiday indie program! Whew. Boy the time sure flies when your… well, you know how the old saying goes.
We know that there is a lot of stress during the holidays with all the planning, shopping, and whatever else we are told to do during the holiday season. Well, we believe that any task goes better with music. So, pour yourself the ‘Nog, eat a cookie or three and let us help you relax with some great indie holiday music. If you have a suggestion for a cool holiday tune, let us know!
Dr. J can’t wait to co-host the 7th Annual Indie Holiday Radio Show on WUDR Flyer Radio 99.5/98.1’s Your Tuesday Afternoon Alternative with our good friend and frequent guest on the program, Tom Gilliam, who always brings some interesting music to the mix. And as always, the talented Mrs Dr. J has made many a fine contribution to the show as well!
This year we hope to have a special guest or two in the studio with us! You will just have to tune in to find out! It will be cool and worth it, we promise you!
