A Perfect Record for 2013… well, so far

2541 - Grant HartJoin us this Tuesday — we have not missed one yet! — for another afternoon of radio on Your Tuesday becomes Alternative with Dr. J and Mrs. Dr. J this Tuesday!

This week we will be playing music from The Ready Stance, The Mayflies USA, The Kyle Sowashes, Grant Hart, The Exploding Hearts, Wussy, The Decade Runners, Night Beds, Christopher Owens, RobtheBank, Cub, The Coathangers, The Tigerlilies, Dear Fawn, and much more! You should expect some classic indie with The Replacements and Husker Du.

We will be talking about one of our favorite movies – Color Me Obsessed: A Film about The Replacements and a soon-to-be-favorite film — Every Everything, the music, life & times of Grant Hart!

We cannot get enough of The Decade Runners!

We just had to share a recent discovery that we have made… The Decade Runners is a band that you must check out!  You need to hear tThe Decade Runners - The Rideheir amazing song, The Ride… and once you do — you will simply be unable to live without it.  How often does that really happen in music anymore?  We do not mean some corporate piece of music that you are told to love because executives are counting on sales of units.  No, we mean a song that once you hear it… the music hits you stronger than a slap upside the head.  You hear the guitars, the bouncy bass line, and a steady drum cadence that leaves you no choice.  No choice whatsoever.  You get up, you dance, you smile and you just close your eyes and find yourself transported by the music. A great song can do that.  A great song should do that!

The Decade Runners are a guitar-focused rock band with a perfect, captivating sound that seems all the more impossible when you find out how crushingly young the band members are for playing such complex melodies.  They sound like a band that is much older — and we mean that in a good way, alright! — than simply measured in years. As stated in their bio, The Decade Runners “came about as a result of three of the members being in the same class at school.”  And in true, Tom Hanksian – That Thing You Do fashion, the band wins a competition and they understand that they have some special on their hands.  And we believe that after you hear The Ride, you will believe that too.

Bonneville CD Release Show

CD RELEASE SHOW - Dayton , OH
Bonneville CD Release show!

Columbus-Dayton music guys, Bonneville, are releasing their brand new CD, Amy’s House, this  Saturday with a big ol’ musicalpaloosa spectacular at The Canal Street Tavern!  We have been playing Go Getter for about a month on Your Tuesday Afternoon Alternative — but there are several great tracks to enjoy off of this new CD!  We highly recommend that you get yourself a copy of this album.  The title track refers to the owner of the house where the record was recorded over four weekends.

You will enjoy the trademark tight harmonies of this young but polished local band!

They are touring right now — after this show they are playing in the Northeast — so check this blog for more information!  Of course, Bonneville also has a fine Facebook page that you might seek out for info!

And, if you do not have a cool Bonneville T-shirt, you can pick up at the show!

Thanks to Baron Von Porkchop’s Terrifying Tales of the Macabre for Stopping by the WUDR Studio

The Baron in the Studio

Many thanks and salutations go to Baron Von Porkchop for visiting Your Tuesday Afternoon Alternative to chat about the Terrifying Tales of the Macabre!  It was a great interview and for someone from the 19th century, The Baron has a very modern sense of humor!  We will share information about the horror tour and the terrific Terrifying Tales program with you all soon!
