This week we will be exploring many great new discoveries found locally and those farther flung finds! We will be joined in studio by some special guests and discussing up coming new releases from Ghost Town Silence, Morrissey Official and a current single from #Dayton’s own The Lost Boys who are playing the Van’s Warped Tour.
We also need your help in determining our Summer music book reads — so give us suggestions, call in (937-229-2774) or tweet us over at drjwudr.
Never forget to take a look at our YTAA Group Page on Facebook! And our ‘official’ Facebooky page! And the event page where you can get a run-down on the set list, conversation during the show, and more!
We will also have the North American debut of Swedish Folk duo Two Trees – ‘Your Woods’ on Tuesday’s Show! This amazing song is reminiscent of some of the fine music that Richard and Linda Thompson created. The lovely swirl of voices from Charlotta Frostenson and Fride Hanburger will take you to a place of beauty. You can listen to their music on their bandcamp page — and we highly recommend that you check them out on Tuesday around 4pm when we will be playing ‘Your Woods’! You can connect with Fride on twitter at @FrideHamburger and Charlotta on twitter at @LoFrostenson or for the band on twitter at @twotreesmusic.
We will be playing new music, several classic indie cuts, and be talking with some folks that you may know… can we get a little more cryptic? Yes – we could!
Expect some new music from The dbs, The Replacements, Fourth of July, The Mowhawk Lodge, Yo La Tengo, Mother Falcon, Still Corners, Ghosty, Dear Fawn, The Story Changes, The Lost Patrol, The Sonic Executive Sections, The Lonely Wild, Ex Cops, Underground Lovers, and that is just in hour one!
We will be talking to some of our friends about the Dayton music scene! Want to join the conversation? Call us between 2:45 and 4pm!
We already have requests for Foxygen and Phoenix that we will play on the show!
Join us this Tuesday!
We just had to share a recent discovery that we have made… The Decade Runners is a band that you must check out! You need to hear their amazing song, The Ride… and once you do — you will simply be unable to live without it. How often does that really happen in music anymore? We do not mean some corporate piece of music that you are told to love because executives are counting on sales of units. No, we mean a song that once you hear it… the music hits you stronger than a slap upside the head. You hear the guitars, the bouncy bass line, and a steady drum cadence that leaves you no choice. No choice whatsoever. You get up, you dance, you smile and you just close your eyes and find yourself transported by the music. A great song can do that. A great song should do that!
The Decade Runners are a guitar-focused rock band with a perfect, captivating sound that seems all the more impossible when you find out how crushingly young the band members are for playing such complex melodies. They sound like a band that is much older — and we mean that in a good way, alright! — than simply measured in years. As stated in their bio, The Decade Runners “came about as a result of three of the members being in the same class at school.” And in true, Tom Hanksian – That Thing You Do fashion, the band wins a competition and they understand that they have some special on their hands. And we believe that after you hear The Ride, you will believe that too.
