Today’s Program Best of 2018

your-tuesday-afternoon-color copyThe annual look back at the previous year in music is one of our favorite shows to do! This year Tom Gilliam joins Dr. J and Flower to play and discuss some of the best local, indie, alternative, folk, Americana, alt-country and more that came out in 2018!

We give thanks for great independent music by playing an assortment of local, Dayton, and indie songs! What songs have been so powerful on you that you cannot imagine your world without them?

During the show contribute to the discussion by giving us a call 937-229-2774 or a tweet for drjwudr with the songs that were released in 2018 that matter to you.

Join us online at wudr.udayton.edu or 99.5 & 98.1fm in Dayton, Ohio, USA!

YTAA Book Discussion This Week: Jeff Tweedy’s ‘Let’s Go (So we can get back)

Jeff Tweedy Book

Our last on-air book discussion of 2018 focuses on Let’s Go (So We Can Get Back) by Wilco frontman and Uncle Tupelo co-founder Jeff Tweedy. Guests in the studio include Jeremy Siegrist of The Typical Johnsons and musician and supermusicfan Mandy Jewell who will share their ideas about the book. This interesting book covers Tweedy’s life experiences, personal biography and his work in Uncle Tupelo and Wilco.

If you have comments and thoughts about the book, feel free to share those with us in the discussion section of the event page or email us at drjytaa@gmail.com. We will also open the phone line during the show so that those listening can join in on the conversation as well.

As always you can listen along online at WUDR.udayton.edu OR 99.5 & 98.1fm in Dayton, Ohio from 3-6pm Tuesday, December 18th!

Novena on YTAA

On October 23, 2018 an exciting band Novena joined us in the studio! Jennifer Taylor and Emma Lee Woodruff bring a wealth of experience to the songs that they play. Novena play some powerful folk rock with a few unexpected covers. If you have a chance to see them, we highly recommend that you take this musical journey.

Finally, Finally, Finally… M. Ross Perkins!

M Ross Perkins

For a very long time, Dr. J has wanted the incomparable M. Ross Perkins to visit YTAA and today we get our wish!

M. Ross will talk about his stellar self-titled debut from 2016 and his most recent forthcoming record, ‘What Did You Do for Summer Break’ EP which is out on August 31st. We will talk about his tour throughout the country, playing the Omega Flea this weekend in Dayton and discuss some of the very cool videos that he has made in support of his excellent music such as the vid for ‘Ever Ever Ever.’

Check out the first single ‘Bed Sheet Wing’ from the EP via friends at City Beat.

So, music lovers, make plans to listen to YTAA from 3-6pm today as we are joined by a fantastic Dayton musician! As always you can listen online at WUDR.udayton.edu or 99.5 and 98.1fm in Dayton.
