Many Thanks to The Professors

The ProfessorsThis past week we had such fine guests as The Professors visited the YTAA Studios! They have a show on June 23rd at The Yellow Cab Tavern with The Zygotes and Cherry Lee and the Hot Rod Hounds! We played music from their most recent CD, ‘Will Not Lie Down’, talked about Dayton Music and their approach to recording the perfect garage guitar tone! Such fun guests – as you can see here! Follow their Instagram!

OldNews

OldnewsOne of our favorite bands, OldNews, played the Yellow Cab Tavern last weekend with The Neverly Brothers and Buffalo Wabs and the Price Hill Hustle! Not only was it a great evening of terrific music but OldNews introduced the crowd to many of their latest songs that are featured on their forthcoming record, Silver Linings. Dr. J was super excited to hear new interpretations of songs like ‘Ring’ and the OldNews classic (and fave) ‘Poor Alexander.’

Keep your eyes peeled and ears open for when the new record comes out because you will want it.  You can check out their music on their ReverbNation page!

Thanks to The Next One Up Sextet

DSC_0107This past week we were joined by a cool jazz group in town, The Next One Up Sextet. The Next One Up Sextet is a cool music group performing America’s music, Jazz. Super swinging, cool and hip, with swanky, jump, jive, and wail thrown into the mix for good measure. The group features Ayn Wood on vocals. Don’t pigeonhole them, they play Jazz, Bebop and Swing!  They often play at Hannah’s in Dayton.  If you get a chance to see them, take the plunge. You will not be disappointed. During their stop on YTAA, we talked about jazz, how they select standard and current songs to perform, the challenges of forming a group with busy musicians and to top it all off they played three songs for us live in the studio! We hope to convince them to return!

Many Thanks to Team Void!

2018-05-15 16.59.49One of the perks of doing YTAA is the ability to learn about all kinds of bands, music, artwork and creative efforts around the Miami Valley!

This past Tuesday, members El Muerto & Infinity of the Luchas Rockers Team Void visited the YTAA HQ!

That is right! The one and only Luchas Rocker Champions Team Void returned to the YTAA HQ on Tuesday, May 15th to talk about rocking the living with their grave digging groovy sounds, amazing guitars and the eternal nature of the void. We were only able to talk with them through a very special hex on El Muerto and Infinity so that they could tell us all about their latest project ‘Cursed to Rock the Living, ‘ their ‘Live at the Shrunken Head’ CD and their future shows and appearance in a Troma film based on William Shakespeare’s The Tempest.

2018-05-15 16.59.54-1If you could not listen due to your duties being a member of the living, you can still preview three tracks from the new EP: http://ow.ly/JB4b30jP3NB!

See you at the upcoming Team Void shows on May 19th at the Tree Bar in Columbus, Fellow Grave Diggers!

And do not ever forget that the Luchas Rock and Roll Champions Team Void has some very cool videos for you to watch.

Loving Surrender Human

Surrender HumanThis weekend at The Connells’ SOLD OUT show in Richmond, VA we saw Matt McMichael’s new project ‘Surrender Human.’  Absolutely loved them!  Great stuff! Surrender Human is a Chapel Hill rock and roll machine consisting of Matt McMichaels (guitar) formerly of lakes&woods and Mayflies USA, Robert Sledge (bass) formerly in Ben Folds Five and Tony Stiglitz (drums) who has played in lakes&woods, Jett Rink and Chris Stamey.
