Dr. J has been involved in college, indie, and commercial radio since 1983. This music blog is the continuation of a radio program that launched in November of 2004 called ‘the School of Rock with Dr. J.’ Mrs. Dr. J joined the program shortly thereafter. Probably because she was getting tired of hearing Dr. J talk about radio all the time. In 2007, the program shifted focus into far more than the musical rants of a college professor who studies popular culture and music genres, it became an effort to celebrate the musical legacy of the past and introduce listeners to new and exciting music that was all too often left off the radio airwaves. The new program called ‘Your Tuesday Afternoon Alternative’ debuted in 2009. Hey, who wants to listen to a preachy doctor? Vs. Who wants to learn about cool new music?
So, this blog was created to continue the discussion of great indie, alternative, alt-country and local Dayton, Ohio, USA music. Our focus on Dayton, OH is driven by the fact that we live there and the reality that Dayton has had and continues to have amazing indie music!
In 2017, Dr. J joined the Reveal Radio family and began doing an online version of Your Tuesday Afternoon Alternative. The hope is that this will continue the effort to bring exciting new music to listeners.
We appreciate you stopping by. Put your feet up and turn on the music.

Hello YTAA!
The Ready Stance returns to Dayton this weekend for the first time in nearly a year. Show is Saturday 2/20 at Blind Bob’s with The Easthills (Indy).
The band’s been in the studio, at work on a new album slated for later this year.
The new LP follows Damndest, the critically-acclaimed debut release which appeared on several ‘Best of’ lists for 2012 and received strong reviews from publications across the US and Europe.
Hope YTAA will mention the show and better yet, attend!
Cheers from Cincy,
Stance
