After the release of their first record the band changed locales from Philadelphia to Nashville. The change in scenery influenced the effort toward a more jangly R.E.M. folky, alt-country vibe while still embracing the sound of ’80s and ’90s dream pop and shoegaze. Closing the album with the Gary Newmanesque “Fault Lines,” Palm Ghosts returns to a bass heavy dreamier, more contemplative atmosphere.
